I'm using Flickr for all my up to date photographs now, as I no longer have the time to produce galleries on this site like I used to. All the old stuff is still here though, in the archives!
My Awards
Much to my surprise, this website has managed to win an award or two since I built it in February 2000.

 • Cold Beer

I love this shot from my cousin Cathy's 21st birthday party in July - here is my uncle Rob in characteristic pose at the barbeque, enjoying a cold beer on a hot day. He made spectacularly good spicy beef kebabs that day!

 • Table Football

Here's a great picture of Milo trying to play table football at my uncle Rob's house in Ruislip, while in the background the grownups play football for real. We had a gathering of the Hortons for my cousin Cathy's 21st birthday last month, and it's always nice to get the family together.

 • Life's a Beach...

I love this picture of Rafferty, and I think this shot in particular really captures his kindness and sense of fun. It was taken while he was playing in the sand with his brothers, at Stone Bay in Broadstairs. We were visiting our friends Claire and Guy at their beach hut, and a very nice day was had by all.

 • Breaking Waves

I had a couple of weeks off recently, during the boys' summer holidays, so we spent a lot of time at the beach. I took these at Joss Bay in Broadstairs, which is one of our favourite beaches - there was a strong wind blowing spray off the waves and some fantastic light. Raffy and Monty happily spent an hour jumping in the waves! There are quite a few more pictures like this in my Flickr account.

 • Strange

I took this last month, and when scanning the negative I had to experiment to get the colour balance right; as part of the process I did a straight scan of the negative which actually looked more striking than the picture I was trying to process, so here it is.

 • Rafferty

Another sunny day out by the sea at Tankerton Slopes; here's Raffy licking ice-cream off his sticky fingers before running off to play again.

 • Fighting Uncle Wilchard

In early July my sister Vickie and her husband Richard came to visit from their home in Brisbane; it was great to see them both and the boys were very excited. They had a great time with their 'Uncle Wilchard' and gave a traditional Horton-Szar boys' welcome...

 • Bug's Eye View

I thought this looked quite interesting - a shot taken while keeping an eye on the boys as they played outside, by getting the camera right down to the ground in macro mode.

 • Gum Tree Leaves

While playing around with our new family digicam, a Canon Powershot G9, I tried to catch the light glowing through the leaves of the gum tree in our front garden. Nice camera, the G9, and great to use, just a shame it doesn't have a larger sensor. The image quality is not up to the promises implied by the other excellent properties of the camera - solid metal build, DSLR-like controls, RAW files etc. Having said that, if you're careful with the light, and don't go above ISO 200, it can turn in some good pictures...

 • Milo, Sea & Clouds

Here's a shot of Milo with his scooter, playing on the promenade outside Tankerton Sailing Club.
