Archives
I'm using Flickr for all my up to date photographs now, as I no longer have the time to produce galleries on this site like I used to. All the old stuff is still here though, in the archives!
My Awards Much to my surprise, this website has managed to win an award or two
since I built it in February 2000.

| • This Morning in Barham
|
Yellow Rapeseed Field, Barham, near Canterbury, May 2005 Canon EOS-1Ds with EF 24-70mm f/2.8L @ 65mm (1/50sec f/14 ISO 400)
After dropping Monty at nursery this morning, I drove to Barham where I knew there are some spectacular fields of yellow rapeseed flowers. I wasn't sure if the weather would hold out but the sun obliged with a single burst from behind the clouds. Shot sadly not taken with tripod as brand new Arca-Swiss ballhead decided to eject its quick-release clamp, locking nut and washers into the long grass when I tried to open it. Not impressed!

| • Blue Dome in Reykjavik
|
Domed restaurant 'The Bubble', Reykjavik, Iceland, April 2005 Canon EOS-1Ds with EF 70-200mm f/2.8L @ 115mm (1/1000sec f/11 ISO 400)
On the way back to the airport on the Iceland tour we stopped at an exhibition centre and restaurant complex on a hilltop overlooking the city. After legging it up to the gallery for some cityscape shots (we didn't have very long at any of the stops on the tour - my only criticism) I took a moment to turn the lens up to the glass dome over the restaurant for this interesting shot.
A view over the city, Reykjavik, Iceland, April 2005 Canon EOS-1Ds with EF 70-200mm f/2.8L @ 125mm (1/500sec f/11 ISO 400)
A view over Reykjavik, taken from the balcony mentioned above. One of the characteristic features of Icelandic buildings is the corrugated metal outer skin and painted corrugated metal roof - which leads to colourful vistas over the city.

|
Mountain overlooking Pingvallavatn, Iceland, April 2005 Canon EOS-1Ds with EF 70-200mm f/2.8L @ 73mm (1/1600sec f/7.1 ISO 400)
I'm working on the complete collection of Iceland pictures at the moment, but have been a little delayed with computer problems (lightning strike + faulty surge protector = fried desktop) that meant I had to order and set up a new PC for photo editing etc. Anyway, in the meantime, here's another picture from the tour of the Golden Triangle.

| • This Sunday morning...
|
Morning sun over the reed beds, Stodmarsh, May 2005 Canon EOS-1Ds with EF 70-200mm f/2.8L @ 148mm (1/4sec f/32 ISO 100)
I went for an early walk this morning to catch the sunrise and take a few pictures. This shot was taken at about 6am in Stodmarsh, about 4 miles from where we live. There is a nature reserve in the marshes with a lot of rare bird species. This picture looks west over the reed beds and catches the red glow of the morning sun on the reeds.
