Archives
I'm using Flickr for all my up to date photographs now, as I no longer have the time to produce galleries on this site like I used to. All the old stuff is still here though, in the archives!
My Awards Much to my surprise, this website has managed to win an award or two
since I built it in February 2000.

| • Snow in Canterbury today...
|
We had snow today for the first time this year - about 4 inches where we live. The roads were quite treacherous but I got down to the river for 7am to get a few pictures before heading off to start the day. See the Porfolio for the others.

I've photographed this old stile before in slightly different conditions - I'll have to take a few more of this scene as the seasons progress. Should snow some more tonight so I'll be out to take more photographs tomorrow. Watch this space!

| • A nice shot of Monty
|
I took this grab shot of Monty over the weekend while sorting out my camera gear. I had the 50mm lens on the camera and opened it up to f/1.4 to take the shot in available light - giving a soft blur to the picture except for Monty's eyes.

| • A Murder Mystery Night with Claire & Guy
|
This weekend we were entertained by Claire and Guy Topsom who held an excellent murder mystery dinner party at their new house in Broadstairs. The game was called 'Murder on the Piste' and so there was a lot of ski-wear involved. Claire cooked a tasty feast of chicken with chorizo and a jolly good time was had by all.

| • Monty meets an Old Steam Engine
|
Here's a somewhat striking picture of the old steam engine which pulled our train on our recent daytrip. This entry is also being used to test a new method of posting images with the Flickr online photo service.

| • This site is now labelled with ICRA
|
To make this website compatible with content-filters that use the Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) system, I've added the necessary labelling to all the pages of this site. As it happens the vast majority of the site is pretty family-friendly; however the Rocky Horror Show photographs contain the occasional semi-bare buttock and certain parties from years past could be construed by some as setting a bad example to under-12's, and so I've labelled these pages accordingly.

| • Day Out at the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway
|
This weekend we took the boys down to Hythe for a trip on The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - a narrow-gauge line which still runs small steam engines. We went as far as New Romney which has the model rail museum - Monty in particular found this fascinating. I bought them a toy steam engine each, which proved very popular and they haven't put them down since.

| • New Award won by this site...
|
It's been a while since I put this site forward for any web design awards, but I succumbed last week, and now have a new award to show for it. This also prompted me to redesign the way the award pages are presented - largely to make it much easier to update in future. Click here to see the new Award pages.

| • Tudor Shops in Northgate
|
This shot was taken in the early morning as the sun rose and lit the old tudor buildings in Northgate, not far from my surgery. Sadly the sky was rather lacking in detail so I photoshopped a slightly more interesting background in to complete the final image.

| • Portfolio now has thumbnails!
|
I've updated the Portfolio section, and not only added a few more pictures, but I have also set up a handy 'Thumbnails' page. This shows all the recent images (from 2004 onwards) as thumbnails on a single page for easy navigation to the image that interests you. Click here to have a look...

| • A blissful weekend in Brighton...
|
Vanessa and I had a much needed break at the weekend. Gail and Tara came down to look after the boys while we spent a truly relaxing weekend in Brighton. Zanna was off to Geneva for the weekend so she very kindly lent us her lovely flat.

We had a wonderful time - an impromptu dinner in a little tapas bar in the Laines on Friday night, spending all day shopping on Saturday before another lovely meal at 'Food for Friends', and a relaxing Sunday morning then back to our little monsters! Needless to say I managed to get up early and do some photography while Vanessa enjoyed a long lie-in.
